Keck Outrigger Final EIS

We have received copies of NASA's Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Keck Outrigger Telescopes Project; they are on display in both the Manoa and Hilo libraries.

There are two volumes: Volume I is the EIS itself, and Volume II contains the appendices, including the comments and responses.

The next and final (unless there is legal challenge) step in this process is for NASA to issue its "Record of Decision", in which it states what it intends to do with regard to the Outriggers Project. We expect the Record of Decision in March.

The Draft EIS is available on the Outrigger Telescopes Project site, and the Final EIS will probably be is available in the near future now.

Journals in Hilo

We're now receiving current issues of Astronomy & Astrophysics, Nature, and Science (current allowing for shipping lag, of course). They will be displayed for several weeks on the New shelves before being shelved in the stacks.

We've also just received several boxes of back-issue journals that have been shelved in the stacks, including a substantial chunk of Mercury.

A complete list of all journals in Hilo is pinned to the bulletin board outside the library office door. Revisions will occur at the end of each week, as necessary. Send Amy an email if you would like the list sent to you.
