Free New York Times Digital Subscription

This free one-year subscription is available to current University of Hawaii faculty, staff and students with a Hawaii.edu email account.

Your subscription starts on the day you create your NY Times account and can be renewed as long as the University of Hawaii maintains the subscription and offers a group pass.

Without a subscription, you can access 10 free daily articles per month.

Instructions

Create a Personal NYTimes Account

1.     Click Here to access the New York Times listing in the UH Manoa Library database.

Scroll down and click on "New York Times " to access the [green] UHM login authorization page for "Electronic Resources."

Click "Login through the UH Web Login Service," and login

2.     You should now see:

 "Welcome to the NYTimes
 The New York Times | NYTimes.com Pass

Your organization has provided you with a NYTimes.com Pass, which gives you complimentary access to NYTimes.com and NYT apps.*

Click on the "Create Account" bar, and follow the instructions.  It's easiest to use [and to remember] your Hawaii.edu email address and password as your NYTimes account Login/Password, although it's not mandatory.


Access Today's Issue

Login Option #1: NYTimes.com

Login Option #2: UH Manoa Library Link:

Click on "Login in Here" to access the NYTimes.com Login page.

          Type in your email and password
          Select "Faculty/Staff/Administrator"
          Check "Remember me"
          Log In

3.     You should now see your personal Confirmation page:

"Your NYTimes.com Pass is Still Active
Your Pass will expire on January 20th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ET" [as an example]  [To renew see step 1.]

4.     Click on "Go to NYTimes.com" to access today's issue.

Your UH Username is displayed in the upper right hand corner of the screen until you log out or shut off your computer.

* Does not include e-reader editions, Premium Crosswords or the New York Times Crossword apps.  NYTimes apps are not supported on all devices.  Access to archived articles within the date range 1923-1980 is limited.  You must have a valid email address from a participating organization.  Other restrictions may apply.
