Call for Proposals

On the bulletin board in the library are two calls for observing proposals. One is for the Nobeyama Millimeter Array and the other is for the 45-m Telescope of the Nobeyama Radio Observatory.

Astronomy Teaching Workshops

Two workshops on teaching astronomy are being offered in June: Teaching Astronomy Under Hawaiian Skies on Maui and Giants of Mauna Kea in Hilo.

IEEE Technology Research Week

During the week of 3 May 2004, the IEEE will offer a series of four free, technology-specific online seminars to users of IEEE technical content, including IEEE journals, magazines and conference proceedings. As part of IEEE Technology Research Week, each session will focus on competitive intelligence and the value of IEEE technical content in the creation of intellectual property, including patents, for specific technologies within the scope of electrical engineering and computer science.

These free online sessions are oriented to executives, engineers, researchers and designers in these technologies. Sessions last one hour, will be held at 1:00 PM EDT (7:00 AM HST), and require access to a phone line and high-speed Internet connection.

Sessions are scheduled for professionals in the following four technologies:

3 May Semiconductors
4 May Biomedical
5 May Aerospace and Defense
6 May Telecommunications and Computing
