Nuovo cimento
The
question seemed simple: what’s wrong with the link to Nuovo Cimento?
I
investigated this title and was surprised by the complexity of its
history. I’m posting this so I’ll have
my notes of the exploration. I’ve combined the publication histories of the
different titles with information on what UHM Hamilton Library has in paper. (Several parts of Nuovo Cimento have ceased.
The archival journals are available from SpringerLink, however, UHM has
only a partial
full-text license for 1997- on. So the
paper journals are the only available copies.)

“Nuovo
Cimento is a series of peer reviewed scientific journals of physics. The series was
first established in 1855, when Carlo Matteucci and Raffaele Piria started
publishing Il Nuovo Cimento as the continuation of Il Cimento,
which they established in 1844. In 1897, Nuovo Cimento became the
official journal of the Italian Physical Society.”
The
Società Italiana di Fisica (SIF)/ Italian Physical Society continues to publish several
journals. They have a useful page on their ceased publications.
