National Security and Scientific Exchange

"Since 9/11 a number of changes have taken place that could have an impact on scientific meetings and conferences, student programs, and normal peer-to-peer interactions....participation in scientific conferences in the U.S. could entail additional steps that may become more than an inconvenience, but a substantial barrier."

In an attempt to assess the impact of National Security Policies on collaboration and scientific exchange in astronomy, the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) is gathering data on experiences.
